We’re always on the lookout for unfamiliar places to visit and explore, and recently there’s been a number of escape rooms opening within easy reach of Metro. Its important to remember that these things can take a while to complete so it’s best leaving extra time to enjoy the experience.
Escape Newcastle

Located within The Gate in Newcastle is a vibrant leisure and entertainment complex located on Newgate Street. It offers a variety of activities and venues, including 16-screen Cineworld cinema, multiple restaurants and bars and arcades too.
This escape room experiences offers two main themes:
- In First Contact an unknown alien has landed on Earth. Unfortunately, this first contact is not friendly, and it is capturing humans for sport. You wake up in a containment chamber and must escape before the alien returns and skins you as yet another trophy.
-In ‘Dead Man’s Hands’ you are visiting the western-themed amusement park Western World where the robotic "hosts" have begun to malfunction and kill off the guests! After barricading yourself inside the Saloon you’ve found a backdoor protected by a hand scanner. The scanner will only open using the park owner's handprint, but the hosts have sealed this away in the saloon's safe. You have one hour before they manage to break in- can you find the Dead Man's Hand?
Both these rooms sound equally terrifying and frightening at the same time. Which one would you pick?

Escape Newcastle promises to deliver a unique adrenaline-pumping experience. Still a relatively new to the market here in the North East escape rooms are growing in popularity among all age groups and it’s also great for those looking for a different way to have fun. With many experiences and events throughout the year no two visits need be the same.
Located in central Newcastle it couldn’t be easier to get to from Central Station, depending on what direction you are traveling in from.

The Escape Key is located just off Newgate Street in the City Centre close by Monument. With four themes to choose from witch, plague, electric city or ARMAGEDDON ranging in levels and experiences in terms of the different themes. This option is great for those looking for a more experience-based day out. This immersive world also features some of the history of Gallowgate so one to go to for those interested in the history of Newcastle.

Founded in 2017 this small business is now based in Forest Hall and is based as the name suggests on riddles and clues. It’s a great family day out but it can also be good for everyone from work colleagues to those looking for something different to entertain. The summer trail treasure hunt is great for younger children but there is also lots of seasonal themed events for winter too.
