Rising Sun Country Park

Open all year round this 400 acre green oasis is rich in wildlife and the lake area is a designated Local Nature Reserve.  Popular with walkers and cyclists.  Website.

Built to guard the eastern end of Hadrian's Wall and housed 600 Roman soldiers. Interactive museum plus full-scale reconstructions of a bath house and a section of Wall.   Website.

Silverlink Shopping Park

Stephenson Railway Museum

A range of fascinating locomotives are on display, interactive exhibitions to explore how trains work and lots more.  Website.

St Mary's Lighthouse

Climb the 137 steps to the top of the Lighthouse for the most spectacular views of the North East coast!  The surrounding Nature Reserve contains an area of rockpools, clifftop grassland, beach and wetland habitats.  Website.

Northumberland Park

This tranquil green park has woodland paths, gardens, lake, bowling green, sculpture trail, children's play area and a tea room.  Regular musical performances are held in the bandstand.  Website.

Whitley Bay Ice Rink

Have fun on the ice, all abilities welcome.  The rink also stages regular ice hockey matches and is home to local team the Whitley Warriors  Website.
