Pay As You Go on Rail

Pop Pay As You Go can be used to pay for travel on Northern trains on the Northumberland Line -that is between Newcastle and Ashington.

(Please note that Pop PAYG cannot be used to pay for travel on any other Northern train services.)
You can travel as many times as you like in one day. You are charged each time you travel until you reach the daily price cap for the number of zones you’ve travelled in. You’ll never pay more than the daily price cap for the number of zones you’ve travelled in.

The price depends on the number of zones you travel in.

You can also use Pop PAYG on Metro, and to pay for travel on selected bus services and the Shields Ferry. Find out more here: Pop Pay As You Go

Changing between Metro and Northumberland Line trains at Northumberland Park?
Make sure you tap out at the Metro station validator before crossing the bridge to tap in at the one at the Northern station. And do the same in the opposite direction.
