This quarter has seen awards success for Nexus across a range of areas of our business activity at prestigious national, regional and industry awards.
Social value study recognised as award winning innovation
Well done to our Corporate Planning Team who won Innovation Project of the Year Award at the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation North East and Cumbria Awards 2023. It was awarded for our Social Value of the Tyne and Wear Metro study, in partnership with Systra.
We commissioned Systra, a leading engineering and consulting group, to undertake a study to identify and evaluate the social value of Tyne and Wear Metro including its impact on customers, the local community and the wider environment.

Silver award for Armed Forces support
We were recognised by the Ministry of Defence’s Employer Recognition Scheme for our continued support of the Armed Forces Covenant.
The Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) encourages employers to support the armed forces community and inspire other organisations to do the same.
The scheme includes Bronze, Silver and Gold awards for employer organisations that pledge, demonstrate or advocate support to Defence and the Armed Forces’ community, and align their values with the Armed Forces Covenant.
UK Bus Awards success
Congratulations to the North East Bus Enhanced Partnership for winning Gold at the UK Bus Awards.
The Gold award was in the Partnership for Excellence category, for the team work to provide the bus services for the 2022 Great North Run.
The partnership also won two silver awards. One for the free travel scheme for care experienced people and one in the Marketing Campaign of the Year category for the Get ‘round for a pound campaign for those aged 21 and under.
North East Marketing Awards success
And finally, Nexus received marketing industry recognition by winning ‘In-House Marketing Team of the Year’ at the North East Marketing Awards.
Judges were impressed with the Nexus marketing strategy and how it stood out for its clarity, strength and agility. They also highlighted the effective collaboration internally and externally and on our effective use of data to craft targeted and effective marketing campaigns for diverse audiences.
