People using local buses in North East England are being advised to check with operators before travel as some services will be running to a reduced frequency during the current lockdown.
All bus routes in the region will continue to run, but frequencies will be stepped down where demand is very low and it will not affect social distancing.
These stepdowns will not be as big as those seen during the first lockdown last year, but by checking operator websites passengers can avoid being caught out when they need to make essential journeys.
Bus operators are currently receiving special funding from Nexus, local authorities and the Government to keep services going for critical workers, school pupils, and others who need to travel. Any changes to frequency are being discussed and approved by Nexus and Durham and Northumberland councils as part of this.
