Tyne and Wear Metro has launched a special free adventure book to encourage families to get out and about during the summer and explore all the fantastic things the region has to offer.
By jumping on board a Metro families can enjoy a fun day out following three exciting trails inspired by the on-going Great Exhibition of the North, and find new things to see and do across the North East from North Shield’s Old Low Light Heritage centre to Keel Square in Sunderland.
The adventure book invites families to discover the region’s innovative spirit and learn more about its design gurus and immerse themselves in its art works and landscapes.
The Great Exhibition of the North is a free, summer-long celebration of the North of England’s pioneering spirit. Local people and visitors to the North East alike can experience a range of exciting exhibits, inspired technology, live performances and cutting edge culture in the North East’s world-class venues, unique outdoor spaces and iconic landmarks.
Customer Services Director at Nexus, Huw Lewis, said: “We are delighted to be a supporting partner of the Great Exhibition of the North as it is a fantastic opportunity for the region. It is very exciting to be a part of this amazing event and to welcome people across the UK and further afield to the North East. With an exciting summer ahead we are hoping to inspire local and visiting families to explore what the region has to offer.
“Despite visiting somewhere lots of times, there is always something new to see or learn and we wanted to highlight in line with the exhibition some of the region’s key locations for innovation, art and design. We hope Metro customers will enjoy the new edition of our adventure book and have a fun day out with the whole family.”
Customers can let Metro know they’re enjoying the Great Exhibition of the North via Twitter @My_Metro and Instagram by sharing photos of their detective work using the hashtag #MetroTrails and #GetNorth2018.
