DB Regio and Nexus have opted for a TV marketing campaign to build on Metro’s recent passenger growth, which is now the fastest outside of London.

‘Good to Know’ is Metro’s first television advert in more than ten years, and features a variety of destinations around the network, including Bill Quay Community Farm in Gateshead, Ocean Beach Pleasure Park in South Shields, Mowbray Park in Sunderland, Kind Edward’s Bay in Tynemouth and Central Arcade in Newcastle.

The advert will run throughout the summer on 14 Sky channels, including Sky1, Sky Sports and Sky Movies, Monument Movies and will also be available to watch on Tyne and Wear Metro’s social media channels including Facebook, Twitter and You Tube.

It brings to life the iconic Metro logo as you’ve never seen it before and follows couples, friends and families enjoying memorable moments at locations within easy reach of a Metro station.

Emma Brough, Customer Service Director at DB Regio Tyne and Wear, which operates the Metro on behalf of Nexus, said: “Metro has the fastest growing passenger numbers outside of London and we are looking to build on that.

“We’re encouraging our customers to make a day of it this summer by exploring as many of the fantastic places to go and visit located next to a Metro station.

“We’re extremely lucky to have such a diverse range of things to do across the region and our new advert captures the many unique experiences which can be enjoyed, from building sandcastles at the beach to enjoying a movie and a bite to eat in the city.

“With 60 stations around Tyne and Wear and frequent trains, Metro is the hassle-free way to travel. Plus children under five travel for free. So whether you’re planning a day out by the seaside or want to explore history at a local museum, we’ll help you squeeze as much fun out of the school holidays as possible.”

Metro will be teaming-up with a host of popular attractions around the region to provide an exclusive range of special offers and discounts for its passengers this summer.

Not only that, visitors to partner attractions will have the chance to meet the newest member of the Metro team. As seen in the new advert, Metro’s friendly character will be meeting families and handing out free activity packs and spot prizes at the following locations during the holidays:
