Minor changes to Metro timetables from 20 May

17 May 2018

There are minor changes to the Metro timetable from Sunday, 20 May 2018.

In most cases times are changing by a minute or two as we seek to make the overall service more reliable, and to improve early morning connections.

Our core frequency, pattern of additional peak services, and first and last train times are not changing.

The small changes we are making will help improve reliability, by balancing the flow of trains on one of the country’s busiest rail networks.

We will be using the same number of trains each day as now, with 74 Metrocars in the peak operating as 37 trains.

There are minor changes to morning peak services, but the timetable uses the same number of trains.

There will be one less service Regent Centre-Pelaw and Pelaw-South Gosforth, and one new service Longbenton to Monkseaton.  One evening peak service that now terminates South Gosforth is extended to Benton.

There will be an extra early morning service between South Hylton and Park Lane, going on to Airport as now.

There is also a new early train from Regent Centre to Airport, and back to Regent Centre, going on towards South Hylton.

There is a minor change to times from South Shields to Newcastle Saturday morning, but there will be five trains per hour from 8.56am, and four trains an hour before that.
