Nexus is making changes to improve local bus services in North Tyneside, responding to feedback from local residents and councillors.

From Monday, 25 July the 335 route will be extended to the Asda superstore in Benton.

The extension will provide people in Hadrian Park, Battle Hill and High Farm with a new half hourly service to and from Asda on Monday to Saturday daytimes.

The 335 will continue to provide links from these areas to major employment sites including Cobalt Business Park, Tyneview Park and Longbenton.

And newer buses will be used with easy-access boarding and more efficient diesel engines, with a new operator, Arriva, providing the service for Nexus.

From Monday, 1 August, the 59 route will be extended to run into Murton village on its way to Whitley Bay Metro station, for a trial period.

The 59 runs hourly from Whitley Bay via Shiremoor to Backworth during the day, Monday to Saturday.

There will also be a revised route for the W3 bus service. All journeys between Monkseaton and Whitley Bay will operate direct via Monkseaton Metro station and additional new journeys have been added Monday to Friday during busy peak travel periods.

Both the 59 and W3 will now be operated by Go North East on behalf of Nexus.
